ISLAMABAD: Oman Air, the Muscat-based air carrier, has stopped flight operations to major Pakistani cities including the capital Islamabad and Lahore, as the airline made major changes in its destinations.
Despite being well-regarded for its modern fleet and services, the airline has suspended operations in several Asian regions, such as Colombo, Chittagong, and more.
Oman’s national airline has recently introduced Sialkot as a new destination, a development that is expected to have a significant impact on passengers, particularly South Asians who frequently travel to the Middle East for employment opportunities. Many of these travelers rely on airlines like Oman Air for their journeys.
Oman Air has strategically adjusted its destinations and flight frequencies to countries such as Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh in order to reduce losses and enhance overall revenue. In the case of India, the airline has reduced frequencies to certain cities while increasing capacity to Lucknow and the southern Indian state of Kerala.
In response to seasonal demands, Oman Air has included Trabzon for the summer and Malé and Zurich for the winter in its flight offerings. These changes are part of Oman Air’s efforts to improve schedule efficiency, with a specific focus on meeting the needs of the Omani market and facilitating key travel routes to and from Muscat. Flight timings for the airline’s popular destinations have been adjusted accordingly.
The airline emphasizes its commitment to adopting a flexible strategy, allowing it to respond to evolving market conditions and capitalize on opportunities for the benefit of the country’s economy and social goals.
