Nurses protest against hostel administration over colleague’s death

RAWALPINDI: Following the death of a nursing student in the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) hostel, the nursing federation staged a protest demonstration and demanded to take strict action against criminal negligence of alleged hostel administration.
According to sources, the nurses and other staff gathered outside the hospital and chanted slogans against the management and demanded to constitute a committee to probe the matter.
The protesters alleged that the third-year student nurse, Samia died due to the alleged negligence of the management of HFH. They said that on Samia’s bad health, the other students asked the female hostel warden to transfer her in an emergency however she did not permit as a result, Samia died.
According to sources, after the mysterious death of the nursing student, the management has formed an inquiry committee to probe the matter.
Sources further said the hospital administration formed a three-member inquiry committee on the death of student Samia and issued a notification on the alleged negligence of the concerned management.
HFF Director Emergency Dr. Tanveer has been made chairman of the inquiry committee and the other two members are Dr. Muhammad Naeem and Dr. Rubina Kausar, sources added.
The hospital management has directed the inquiry committee to investigate the whole matter within 48 hours and submit a detailed inquiry report to the authorities.
