Actress and dancer Nora Fatehi has opened up about her emotional struggles, revealing how her so-called “daddy issues” have shaped her relationships and mental health.
In a candid conversation, she reflected on her parents’ separation and her father’s absence during childhood, saying it left her with deep fears of rejection and abandonment that continue to influence her personal life.
Nora, who recently faced backlash for her song Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke due to its allegedly vulgar lyrics, sat with popular YouTuber Lilly Singh, revealing that she was raised by her mother. Her parents got divorced, after which her father remained absent from her life for a long time.
“I have daddy issues,” the controversial dancer said. “I am talking about all brown families, but it’s hard to get them to understand us. It’s hard to get them to understand that we are a different generation, we have different goals, we want to do things differently, and our mentalities are different.”
She credited her mother for her success, saying that as a child she used to admire stars like Shakira and Jennifer Lopez as her role models, but now she realizes that her real hero is her mother, who supported her through all hardships.
Discussing her family background, she said her mother worked multiple jobs as a single parent to raise Nora and her brother.
She added that children raised in such environments, especially girls, can sometimes develop negative feelings about men and relationships.
According to Nora, although she has met good men in her life, her childhood wounds and “daddy issues” have made it difficult for her to trust relationships and handle breakups.
