KARACHI: As the ongoing controversy between veteran actor Syed Muhammad Ahmed and actor Fahad Sheikh continues to dominate discussions on electronic, digital and social media, senior actress Bushra Ansari has expressed her views, calling for forgiveness after an apology.
Bushra Ansari said that if Fahad Sheikh has apologized, then he should be forgiven, adding that it is not appropriate to impose restrictions or demand a ban on him.

Fahad Sheikh and Muhammad Ahmed are both well-known television actors in Pakistan, famous for their versatile and excellent acting, however, these days both are in the news due to the online controversy.
The matter came to light when Muhammad Ahmed, in a recent podcast, revealed that he was insulted by a junior actor on a drama set. He recounted that the actor reminded others that he had once assessed his acting abilities before telling a producer he was “alright” and took a portable fan from another cast member to mimic styling his hair while calling others to watch. While Ahmed did not name the actor, he was later identified on social media as Fahad Sheikh after a video from the set went viral.
Fahad Sheikh denied the allegation of bullying, saying the incident was taken out of context and that on set they bond like a family. He also stated that he had apologized to Ahmed before the controversy emerged.
Sharing her perspective, Bushra Ansari said that when artists work together, there is a happy atmosphere during the shooting where everyone laughs and jokes with each other.
According to her, when the incident happened, Muhammad Ahmed also ignored it at that time, but it is possible that later he felt that the matter had gone too far.
Commenting on calls for action against Fahad Sheikh, Bushra Ansari said that demands like banning him are not appropriate, because Fahad neither asked Muhammad Ahmed to leave the room nor to get up from his seat.
She added that in her long experience, junior artists have always treated her with respect. Sometimes the tongue slips, she noted, and in such a case the apology should be accepted.
One should not put someone’s future at stake on the basis of a single mistake, because this is not a crime in which someone’s life was lost, she concluded.
