Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday issued a firm directive to Islamabad Police, stating that individuals breaking the law will face strict action.
During an early morning visit to the Islamabad Police Lines, Naqvi praised the police for their efforts in maintaining peace and security in the city. The visit was attended by senior officials, including the IG Islamabad Police, Chief Commissioner, and DIG.
Addressing the officers, the minister underscored the importance of maintaining order ahead of significant events. He highlighted the upcoming visit of a Belarusian delegation, including President Alexander Lukashenko, scheduled for November 25, emphasizing the need for heightened security.
Naqvi warned that anyone attempting to disrupt public order would face immediate arrest. “This time, no one taking the law into their hands will walk free,” he stated firmly.
He also emphasized the need for unity within the police force, urging officers to work collaboratively to ensure peace. To protect officers on duty, Naqvi encouraged the use of protective gear like helmets and jackets, reassuring them of the government’s full support. “Your safety is our priority, and we stand with you,” he said.
The statement comes as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced plans for a protest at Islamabad’s D-Chowk on November 24. PTI leaders have vowed to remain in the city until their demands are addressed, raising concerns about potential disruptions.
Naqvi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining order and protecting citizens, warning against any attempts to compromise public safety. “We will take every measure to uphold peace and ensure the security of Islamabad’s residents,” he concluded.
