Police are investigating a newly married woman whose body was found hanging inside her home in Azizabad, Karachi.
According to details, the incident occurred near Safa Mosque in Block 2 of Azizabad, within the jurisdiction of Azizabad Police Station. The deceased was identified as 23‑year‑old Ayesha, wife of Mohit. Her body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post‑mortem examination.
Head Moharrar Arshad Sheikh of Azizabad Police Station said that the woman had married Mohit about four and a half months ago. Before this, she had been married to Mohit’s elder brother, but after his death, she married the younger brother.
Police reported that the husband claimed his wife locked the bathroom door, climbed onto a stool, and used her scarf to hang herself.
However, when police arrived at the scene, they found the crime scene had been cleaned. The stool was missing from the bathroom, and the scarf had been thrown aside.
Police said the incident appears suspicious. A post‑mortem is being conducted to determine the exact cause of death, and investigations are ongoing.
