KARACHI: A newborn girl miraculously survived after she was thrown off the second floor a building in Karachi.
The heartwrenching incident occurred in Manzoor Colony area where the infant was thrown off the building and was suffering on the street for several hours.
The child was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where she miraculously survived. Police have sprung into action after receiving reports of the incident.
The district police have arrested a man and woman who were residents of the building while further investigation is underway. Baloch Colony Police Station has also registered a case No. 362/2020 under Section 338-B/201/34 TP against the arrested accused.
The newborn baby’s mother Najma has confessed throwing the baby after an argument sparked following her father’s refusal to accept her as his daughter.
Addressing a press conference, Ramzan Chhipa, founder of Chhipa welfare, said that it was a miracle that the girl’s life was saved despite her poor condition.
“After receiving a call, we reached the spot and rescued the girl from the steel shed of the shops. We rushed the girl to Jinnah Hospital in a critical condition where doctors rescued her after several hours of effort,” he added.
He further said, “If the parents contact us legally, we will hand over the baby. Otherwise, we will either take care of the girl ourselves or we will hand over the child to a benevolent parent.”
