Hackers have now begun using highly advanced spyware to target WhatsApp and other messaging platforms.
A new warning from the U.S. Cyber Defense Agency has once again made it clear that hacking a WhatsApp account is now easier and more dangerous than ever before. If you want to keep your account secure, you must immediately review your security settings.
According to CISA (Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency), hackers use extremely sophisticated tactics, precision targeting, and social-engineering techniques to gain unauthorized access to users’ messaging apps. Once access is obtained, these systems install additional malicious software that completely compromises the mobile device.
These attacks are not only aimed at ordinary users but primarily target influential personalities, journalists, business leaders, policymakers, and high-profile individuals. However, the risk is not limited to them. Malicious links, fake QR codes, unverified app installations, mobile malware, and counterfeit versions of popular apps can easily reach ordinary users as well.
How to Protect Your WhatsApp from Cyber Attacks
Ninety-nine percent of your online security depends on just a few precautions:
• Do not click on unknown links
• Never install apps from sources other than official app stores
• Do not open unknown files or attachments
However, the biggest threat is social engineering attempts that can hijack your WhatsApp account. Attackers trick you into sharing the one-time verification code that should only be used on your phone.
If this code falls into their hands, they can transfer your account to their device within seconds—after that, recovering your account becomes a difficult battle.
