NAB approves another graft reference against Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD: The Executive Board of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has approved filing a new corruption reference against former Prime Minister and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif.

According to a statement issued by NAB, reference of security vehicles will be filed against Nawaz Sharif, his principal secretary Fawad Hassan, and former Director-General Intelligence Bureau Aftab Sultan. They have been accused of the illegal use of 73 security vehicles causing a loss of Rs 2.5 billion to the national exchequer.

The NAB meeting also approved to file of a corruption reference against Ahsan Iqbal and others for enhancing scope of the of Narowal Sports City from 30 million to three billion rupees.

Moreover, the executive board approved a corruption reference against former chairman National Police Foundation (NPF) Mohammad Rafique Hassan and others accused. The NAB meeting approved another reference against the officials of the Punjab Sports Board, former DG Sports Usman Anwar, Wilayat Ali Shah and others.

NAB executive board approved an accountability reference against former chairman CDA Farkhand Iqbal and others. The accused were allegedly involved in the misuse of authority, the bureau said in its statement.

Chairman NAB Javed Iqbal has said that the faith of NAB is corruption-free Pakistan, bringing mega corruption cases to a logical conclusion is the first priority.

He said that NAB does not belong to any political party, group, or individual but only to the state of Pakistan. Javed Iqbal said that steps should be taken in accordance with the law to arrest the fugitives and notorious accused.

The NAB chairman further said that the corrupt elements should be brought to justice and the law would make its own way.
