The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah received a 6.5-year prison term on Friday for orchestrating a massive telemarketing fraud scam. The elderly and other vulnerable people were taken advantage of by the con.
While not the first Bravolebrity to go to prison — Jersey Housewife Teresa Giudice spent nearly a year behind bars for fraud — this is a pretty extreme case. Shah, 49, appears on the third season of the show, which is currently airing — all the while professing her innocence (she’d later pled guilty to the awful grift after the season wrapped).
So here we are: Shah will soon be in jail. Naturally, the internet responded with memes, jokes, and shock. Disbelief, though, might be using a strong word considering it appears Shah got off pretty lightly for her actions. People were more than a little surprised that Shah was only sentenced to 6.5 years in prison for defrauding helpless victims.
nothing makes me feel more american than waiting on pins and needles for an egomaniacal reality star to be sentenced for systematically scamming elderly people #JenShah

I need @BravoTV to cover Jen Shah’s sentencing day like it’s a royal wedding. Live cameras all day. Legal commentary from Meredith Marks and Erika Jayne. Ouija board revealing Joan Rivers’ take on what she’ll wear to court.

Not only is Jen Shah’s sentencing a win for victims, it’s a win for RHOSLC which has been such a dud this season

Jen Shah blaming mental illness for defrauding thousands of elderly and/or disabled people is absolutely disgusting. No accountability.

Shah will have to surrender herself to prison on February 17 to begin her sentence. She was also sentenced to five years of supervision upon release.
