Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has urged President Trump to delay any potential U.S. military strike on Iran, The New York Times reported has reported.
As per the paper citing a senior U.S. official, Netanyahu spoke with Trump on Wednesday, the same day the president suggested he had received intelligence from “very important sources” indicating that Iran had paused executions and reduced violence against demonstrators.
This appeared to signal a temporary step back from possible military action, which Trump had been considering for several days.
However, a senior U.S. official noted that Trump has not dismissed the military options presented by his commanders, and any decision may hinge on how Iranian security forces respond to ongoing protests.
Meanwhile, several Arab allies, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Egypt, have been urging Washington to refrain from attacking Iran, warning that such action could spark a broader regional conflict. These countries have also communicated with Tehran, advising restraint if the U.S. takes military measures.
Officials said the Arab nations are coordinating their messaging to both Washington and Tehran to reduce the risk of escalation.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed Trump had spoken with Netanyahu but did not provide further details about their discussion.
