The Pakistani armed forces paid tribute to Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed on the 53rd anniversary of his martyrdom, commemorating his heroic sacrifice during the epic Battle of Hilli in East Pakistan in 1971.
Observing his martyrdom anniversary today, the nation remembers Major Akram, who laid down his life defending the motherland. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released a statement saying the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), Service Chiefs, and the armed forces of Pakistan have honored the memory of Major Akram Shaheed.
A recipient of the Nishan-e-Haider, Major Akram was commanding a company of the 4 Frontier Force Regiment in East Pakistan on May 19, 1971. He led a valiant attack on enemy positions, inflicting heavy losses on their tanks before sustaining critical injuries and embracing martyrdom on December 5, 1971.
The army recognizes his sacrifice as a profound symbol of courage and dedication, inspiring both the military and the nation in the ongoing defense of Pakistan.
