Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah has apologised over a controversial post shared on social media.
In a statement on X, he said the post was made by his social media team from his account and did not reflect his views. He added that he takes full responsibility for his platform and has implemented necessary changes to prevent such incidents in the future.
He also apologised to all those affected by the misuse of his platform.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has imposed a fine of Rs20 million on Naseem Shah over the controversial post, citing a breach of the central contract.
According to the PCB, a show-cause notice was issued to him on 27 March 2026, outlining the violations and seeking an explanation.
After receiving and reviewing his response, a three-member disciplinary committee heard the case on 30 March.
Despite his unconditional apology, the committee concluded that he had violated multiple clauses of his central contract and imposed a fine of Rs20 million.
The PCB further stated that Naseem Shah has already dismissed his social media adviser, who will also be blacklisted by the board and barred from working with any player under its jurisdiction in the future.
