ISLAMABAD: The controversy surrounding the One Constitution Avenue project escalated today when speaking to reporters in Islamabad on Wednesday, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi dismissed the money laundering allegations raised by Alam.
“If he can prove even one rupee, I am responsible,” Naqvi said, when asked about Alam’s claims. “But if he cannot, then ask him what he will do.” He added that he generally does not respond to “inappropriate” allegations.

The exchange follows a viral vlog by Alam in which he accused Naqvi of engineering the eviction of residents from One Constitution Avenue. Alam alleged the forced eviction was not about lease defaults with the Capital Development Authority (CDA), but a move to clear the 13.5-acre plot for a “favored Lahore-based developer”.

Alam, who owns a unit in the complex, framed Naqvi’s actions as a return to the “Faiz Hameed playbook” — a reference to the former ISI chief — saying the timing and lack of due process showed “sheer hostility”. He argued the dispute reflects a power struggle between camps aligned with the Sharifs and the Establishment.
Naqvi, it may be added here, has repeatedly called One Constitution Avenue “one of the biggest scams in Pakistan’s history”. Speaking to journalists in Lahore on Monday, he said his stance was “unchanged from day one”: the property was “sold illegally from the outset”.
He alleged that politicians, bureaucrats, judges and bankers were involved in a scheme where “for 21 years money was distributed and received”. Naqvi said he fully backs the CDA’s position that the project was developed unlawfully, and stressed “the law must be applied to all equally”.
