Concerns over law and order in Karachi have intensified following the reported disappearance of a senior government official.
The family of Fayyaz Ahmed Janjhi, an Assistant Director at the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), has approached the Sindh Police and appealed for his safe recovery.
According to an application submitted to Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho, Fayyaz Ahmed Janjhi has been missing since approximately 6:30 p.m. on 20 July.
The family stated that repeated attempts to contact him were unsuccessful, as his mobile phone remained switched off. They later learned from the NADRA office that he had left the authority’s office in Ayesha Manzil at around 6:00 p.m. on Monday but never arrived home.
The application further states that, to the family’s knowledge, Fayyaz Ahmed Janjhi had no known personal enmity or disputes. They have urged police to immediately register a missing person case and take all necessary measures to locate and safely recover him.
According to his elder brother, Riaz Suhail, the Sindh Inspector General of Police has assigned the case to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Central Imran Khan for investigation.
Meanwhile, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has also expressed concern over the disappearance and called on the Sindh government to ensure Fayyaz Ahmed Janjhi’s immediate and safe recovery.
