The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued important instructions to inform citizens about the procedure for changing or correcting their date of birth.
In a statement, NADRA said that under the rules of the Government of Punjab, any alteration or correction to the date of birth recorded on a birth certificate can only be made on the basis of an order from the relevant Union Council, Cantonment Board, or Municipal Corporation court.
The authority further clarified that, in line with the same legal requirement, applications for changing or correcting the date of birth on a Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC), NICOP, Child Registration Certificate (CRC), or Juvenile Card will only be processed upon submission of a formal court order along with a verified Computerised Birth Registration Certificate.
NADRA emphasised that the requirement for a court order is mandated under the relevant laws. It added that the organisation remains available to guide and facilitate citizens and provides full assistance to applicants in accordance with the prescribed legal procedure.
The policy will apply to cases concerning changes or corrections of date of birth based on Computerised Birth Registration Certificates issued in Punjab.
