Television host and actress Nadia Khan has once again strongly criticized Bollywood’s trends, asserting that the Indian film industry has “lost its original identity” and is now operating entirely on the imitation of international and foreign content.
During her program, Khan hosted Pakistani producer Niha Laaj, who made the 2022 film Chaudhry, based on the life of renowned police officer Chaudhry Aslam.
Nadia Khan criticized Bollywood, claiming that the industry is now copying the story of the same Pakistani hero, featuring actor Sanjay Dutt in the lead.
“What is this craze India has for international content?” she questioned. “Bollywood used to be copied; now they are copying others themselves Korean content, Turkish content, and now Pakistani stories. Where has their own creativity gone? They can make neither a good film nor a good song.”
Khan further speculated that Bollywood’s new film ‘Dharmendra’ (likely referring to a different title or project, as Dharmendra is an actor) includes several major stars to secure “Modi media” funding.
She remarked that if India were to make any patriotic film now, it would be mocked by their own people because “their reality was exposed to the entire nation after seven Indian planes were shot down.”
This, she suggested, is why they have shifted away from patriotic films toward subjects like Karachi’s Lyari.
Producer Niha Laaj praised Chaudhry Aslam, describing him as a man of great dignity and a magnificent personality.
“Sanjay Dutt is an excellent actor, but in terms of physical appearance, he is far behind Chaudhry Aslam,” Laaj stated. “Aslam was naturally very handsome and charismatic.”
