NAB launches operation to recover 8 million pounds from Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has launched an operation to recover eight million pounds from PML-N leader and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

According to details, NAB in its letter to Deputy Commissioners has stated that the amount of court fine imposed on Nawaz Sharif by Accountability Court is to be recovered. Initiating proceedings for the export of 8 million, the concerned Deputy Commissioners were directed to sell Nawaz Sharif’s properties immediately.

The NAB said that more assets of the former prime minister will be found if the money is not recovered. For recovery, the lands of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif in Mouza Manak, Badhoki, Sultan, and Sheikhupura will be sold.

Nawaz Sharif is still in London for treatment, the federal government seems to be engaged in diplomacy to bring him back home. The NAB has said that Nawaz Sharif’s residential bungalow at Upper Mall Lahore will also be auctioned to bring back the looted wealth of the country.

The federal government welcomed the NAB’s decision to auction Nawaz Sharif’s properties. Minister of State for Information Farrukh Habib has said that the fines will be recovered by auctioning the properties while this is an important step towards recovering the looted money from the national exchequer.
