NAB grills Khuhro over acquiring assets beyond means

SUKKUR: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh President Nisar Khuhro on Thursday appeared before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Sukkur in cases related to assets beyond known means and undeclared accounts and submitted his written reply to the questionnaire.

According to the details, the anti-corruption bureau had summoned Nisar Khuhro today to submit his written response to the questionnaire.

Last year on December 14, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had approved to launch 16 inquiries against several lawmakers, bureaucrats and others, including Pakistan Peoples Party leaders Nisar Khuhro and Sharjeel Memon.

In a meeting of NAB governing board chaired by chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal, the country’s anti-corruption body had approved the initiation of 16 inquiries, involving two investigations and filing of two corruption references.

Under the suspicion of acquiring assets beyond established means of income, former provincial ministers Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Sharjeel Memon and Abdul Karim Soomro will be investigated by the NAB.

The governing board had also decided to initiate the investigations against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Pir Sabir Shah, officers of the Department of Revenue, Dera Ismail Khan, officers of the Food Department, Sukkur and others, and Brigadier Waqar, managing director, National Telecom Corporation.

Others, who will be questioned by the NAB officials, were Sardar Qaiser Abbas Khan, Sardar Nasir Abbas Khan, Sardar Lal Khan; officials and others of the Department of Revenue, Chobara Layyah; former MPA Abdul Majeed Abro; appointment of managing directors in the National Power Park Management Company, Government Holding Private Limited, Pakistan LNG Limited, Intra-Gas System and investment in Government Holding Private Limited; Dr Ghulam Muhammad Memon, Financial Adviser, EOBI; Salman Muhammad, Acting Vice-Chancellor, Federal Urdu University Karachi; officials of the CDA, CADD, officers of Lakhra Power House, Jamshoro and others.
