ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed a petition in Supreme Court against the bail granted to former Managing Director (MD) Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Ijaz Haroon in the fake accounts case.
The NAB had challenged the bail granted to Ijaz Haroon. In the petition, the bureau stated that the Islamabad High Court moved judgment in the case by neglecting the Supreme Court’s orders.
The petition further stated that there is also no issue of trial in the accused’s case. Through pleas, the NAB requested the SC to nullify the IHC’s judgment.
Last month, the IHC granted interim bail to Ijaz Haroon in the fake accounts case. He was arrested by the NAB on 21st November last year for his alleged role in corruption with the Omni group and opening of fake bank accounts
He was imprisoned on charges that he sold 12 plots to fake allottees, which were then used to launder Rs144 million for the Omni Group via two fake bank accounts. The NAB submitted at least 22 inquiries against him while three references have been filed in the fake accounts case.
