A photograph of a Muslim officer serving in the Israel Defense Forces offering prayers during joint US–Israeli strikes on Iran has gone viral on social media.
The image was shared by the Israeli military’s Arabic-language spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, on his official page.
In the caption, he wrote that the Muslim officer was observing his Ramadan fast and performing his religious duties while carrying out his national responsibilities alongside fellow soldiers.
Using the hashtag “Our army, our pride”, Adraee said the image highlighted religious harmony within the Israeli military and the role of Muslim personnel in its ranks.
The photograph has since prompted widespread debate online. Some users praised the officer’s commitment to both his faith and professional duties, while others criticised him, arguing that he serves in a military accused of causing civilian casualties in Palestinian territories and, more recently, in Iran.
