GILGIT-BALTISTAN: A mosque cleric and a woman have been killed allegedly in the name of honour in a village in the Diamar area.
The incident happened 2 days ago when unknown persons shot and killed a 25-year-old mosque cleric named Khalid Mahmood and 20-year-old Safina Bibi in Gas Bala village of Diamar. Both persons died on the spot.
Muhammad Akbar, the brother of Imam Masjid, filed an application for the arrest of the unknown accused at Gunnar Farm police station. The police have started a raid to find the accused.
Officials said that according to the preliminary investigation, the incident seems to be a case of personal enmity or honor killing. Muhammad Akbar says that his brother was killed after offering prayers.
Muhammad Akbar, the brother of the deceased said that the accused were the family members of the girl who killed their sister and his brother by firing from behind. “My brother had 8 bullets,” he claimed.
Muhammad Akbar said that they want to get justice for which they approached the police. It is hoped that those who shot the victims will be punished. The family members say that both the deceased were neighbours.
