As millions gathered along the riverbanks in Prayagraj for the world’s largest religious gathering, the Maha Kumbh Mela, a young garland seller from Indore unexpectedly became an internet sensation. Her striking beauty captivated online audiences, propelling her to viral fame.
Sixteen-year-old Moni Bhonsle has been compared to the “Mona Lisa” for her stunning features, as captured in viral videos that have mesmerized viewers worldwide.
With the unexpected fame, rumors about her financial gains quickly spread across the internet. According to The Times of India, several viral posts claimed that she had earned Rs 100 million in just 10 days from garland sales. However, Moni dismissed these rumors outright, saying, “If I earned so much money, then why would I live here and why would I sell garlands?” Her response highlighted the exaggerated nature of these claims and the stark reality of her financial situation.

Contrary to expectations, Moni’s newfound fame did not bring prosperity but instead disrupted her livelihood and invited unwanted attention, including harassment.

Her father said that instead of purchasing garlands, people were more interested in taking selfies and recording videos with Moni, making it difficult for them to conduct business.
As a result of declining sales, Moni later revealed that she had to borrow Rs 35,000 to sustain herself and her family—an ironic twist to the viral narrative of sudden wealth.
