LAHORE: A 6-year-old girl was gang-raped and murdered allegedly with the connivance of her cousin in the Mohlanwal area of Lahore.
According to sources, the prime suspect Rizwan, the cousin of the victim Ayesha, and his alleged co-conspirator Allah Ditta took the minor to nearby fields where they sexually abused her and then murdered her.
On insistence by Allah Ditta, Rizwan abducted his cousin Ayesha and then after she was murdered, following her ghastly calamity meted out by two suspects, the suspects acted naïve and pretended to look for her with the grieving family, police said.
The police said they have been arrested the suspects after registering a case against the accused. Earlier, Lahore police claimed that a rape-accused in Pattoki, a city of Punjab’s Kasur district, is already booked in two more cases of sexual assault and murder.
The police found a further criminal record of the suspect, who is blamed by people for raping six girls in the area. The accused, identified as Yasin, had tried to rape a 12-year-old girl, a resident of Phoolnagar.
Police said the accused remained imprisoned in the case and was later released. The accused had also remained behind bars for nine years over allegedly murdering his paternal aunt.
The police said the suspect would lure the minor girls in Sarai Mughal locality in Pattoki Tehsil. A case has been registered against the culprit who would now undergo a DNA test. Police said that further investigation is underway.
District Police Officer (DPO) Kasur had suspended SHO Sarai Mughal for not taking action despite the availability of CCTV footage as the suspect was only arrested after public outcry.
Earlier, local residents had launched protests demonstrations against the rising number of rape cases in Pattoki and blocked roads after burning tyres.
