ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Shibli Faraz has said that Indian forces are engaged in extreme human rights violations and barbarism in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing an event in Islamabad today, Shibli Faraz urged the international community to take notice of the situation and ask India to stop torture and killings in the region.
He said that millions of Kashmiris have been killed in the valley since 1990. He further said that during the COVID-19 outbreak, the Indian troops continued killing innocent people in Kashmir.
The minister said, “These atrocities by Indian Occupation forces on orders of the Hindutva Supremacist Occupation Modi govt are well documented by UN, HR organization and international media.
“A continuing silence in the face of such blatant abuse is against int human rights & humanitarian laws and must be unacceptable,” he added.
He highlighted that Indian soldiers are involved in extra-judicial killings of Kashmiris.“The situation in the valley worsened after India’s move of August 5, 2019, revoking Kashmir’s special status.”
The minister mentioned that Pakistan knows how to defend its borders and its armed forces are fully prepared to give a befitting response to any misadventure from the Indian side.
Condemning the deplorable targeting of innocent civilians by the Indian occupation forces, the minister stated that ceasefire violations are against all established humanitarian norms and professional military conduct.
He said Indian forces have continuously been targeting civilian populated areas with artillery fire, heavy-caliber mortars and automatic weapons along the LoC and Working Boundary.
“These violations by India are a threat to ‘regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation,” he added.
