Passengers using the Metro Bus Service across Punjab will pay more for their daily travel as authorities have increased fares for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) services by about 33 percent.
According to the Punjab Mass Transit Authority, the new fares will take effect from March 26, 2026. Officials said the increase applies to all BRT services, including the Lahore Metro Bus, with the fare raised by Rs10.
Following the revision, the Red Metro Bus operating in Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Multan will now cost Rs40 per ride.
For many daily commuters, especially students and workers who use the service twice a day, the increase could add noticeable pressure on monthly transport expenses.
Officials, however, said some relief has been kept in place. Passengers using the Green Transport Card will receive a Rs15 discount, allowing them to travel for Rs25 instead of the full fare.
Authorities said that the decision was taken due to rising operational costs, including fuel, maintenance, and system management.
