Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) survived repeated political challenges because of the unwavering support of the public.
Addressing a PML-N election rally in Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), she said the large turnout despite the intense heat reflected strong public backing for the party and expressed confidence that the PML-N’s election symbol, the lion, would secure victory across the region.
Maryam Nawaz said she did not feel as though she was visiting Mirpur, but rather returning to her ancestral home. She added that the enthusiasm shown by the people demonstrated the party’s growing popularity in Azad Kashmir.
She said there was no shortage of resources or determination in AJK but stressed the need for improved infrastructure, better roads, and enhanced healthcare facilities.
The Punjab chief minister claimed that, with honest governance, Azad Kashmir could surpass Punjab in terms of development within five years. She pledged that, if the PML-N forms the government, development projects similar to those underway in Punjab would also be launched in AJK.
Maryam Nawaz also announced a gift of 10 electric buses for Mirpur and said initiatives such as the Safe City project, the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar housing scheme, and the Suthra Punjab cleanliness programme should be introduced in Azad Kashmir.
She urged voters to cast their ballots carefully, saying their choice would determine whether the region continued on a path of development or faced further stagnation.
