Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas in Chakwal and Jhelum, and during the visit, she announced financial assistance of Rs. 1 million each for the families of those who lost their lives in rain-related accidents.
According to details, during the aerial survey of the flood-affected areas, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was given a detailed briefing by the relevant authorities about the areas devastated by the floods.
Additionally, she announced Rs. 1 million in compensation for the heirs of those who died in rain-related incidents in Chakwal. She also directed the restoration of all connecting bridges and the construction of a steel bridge on Jhelum Road.
Severe rainfall has caused widespread destruction in various parts of Punjab. In Chakwal, 450 mm of rainfall resulted in the complete destruction of 32 roads, floodwaters washed away connecting bridges, and at least 119 people lost their lives in various incidents.
Recently, after heavy rain in Lahore, the roads were cleared. However, a viral video claimed that Lahore resembled a pond, and various streets were said to be suitable for boating.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government is providing facilities to improve public transportation, and on Maryam Nawaz’s directives, restoration efforts are ongoing in the rain-affected areas.
