The Punjab government on Saturday announced free cardiac operations for children across the province under the Chief Minister Free Surgery Programme.
Punjab Revenue Department already released funds worth rupees 1.5 billion to four cardiac and two children’s hospitals in Punjab for cardiac operations.
Sources further revealed that the Department of Specialized Healthcare Punjab requested the Punjab government to allocate a budget to meet the expenditures of cardiac operations.
Meanwhile, the Finance Department of Punjab has released Rs6 billion for the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital project.
This budget has been released after the approval of the P&D Board.
The Department of Specialized Health had asked for Rs19 billion.
The total cost of this hospital project is Rs52 billion and the Finance Department is releasing the budget in phases.
It should be noted that following reigned power earlier this year, CM Nawaz has launched many health programs for the welfare of the public of the province including mobile clinics and providing free medicine to patients on door doorstep.
