A married woman has lodged a police complaint in the limits of Gujar Khan police station, Rawalpindi, levelling serious allegations against her father-in-law and brother-in-law, prompting police to launch an investigation.
According to the complainant, her husband works away from home as a labourer, leaving her alone in the house with her young son. She alleged that her brother-in-law, Nair Tazeem, who was deported from the United Kingdom in a rape case, repeatedly harasses her.
In her statement, the woman claimed that two days ago Nair Tazeem brought his friends into the house’s sitting area, where they consumed hashish and alcohol. She called her paternal aunt, who asked the men to leave. The accused allegedly became aggressive and issued threats of firing gunshots.
The complainant further stated that the following morning, when she went to the washroom, Nair Tazeem was standing outside. As she opened the door, he allegedly pushed her, tore her clothes and attempted to assault her. She managed to escape and later recorded a video of her father-in-law and brother-in-law, which she claims is in her possession as evidence.
She also alleged that her father-in-law had previously behaved in a similar manner, while Nair Tazeem had earlier attempted to assault her son as well. She claimed the matter was settled at the time due to the intervention of influential individuals. According to the woman, the accused has resumed his abusive behaviour and continues to pose a serious threat.
Following the incident, she called 15 (police helpline). Police arrived at the scene and advised her to submit a formal application, after which an FIR was registered at Gujar Khan police station.
Police officials confirmed that a case has been registered and investigations are under way. However, they added that preliminary information suggests a possible property dispute between the parties, and the actual circumstances will become clear after completion of the inquiry.
