In a tragic incident near Basti Luniwala Adda on Shujabad Road in Lodhran district, a man killed his polio-affected daughter, severely injured his son, and then attempted to take his own life.
The incident reportedly stemmed from a family dispute, according to police and Rescue 1122 officials.
The suspect, Muhammad Ismail, 47, attacked his 23-year-old daughter Mussarat, who had suffered from polio since childhood, and his 25-year-old son Khalid with a sharp-edged knife. After realizing the gravity of his actions, Ismail turned the weapon on himself, slitting his throat.
Mussarat succumbed to her injuries on the spot, while Ismail and Khalid were critically injured. Both were rushed to Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH), where their condition remains critical.
Rescue 1122 media coordinator Muhammad Safdar confirmed that the emergency team found Mussarat already deceased upon arrival, while Ismail and Khalid were in a life-threatening condition. The tragic incident highlights the devastating consequences of unresolved family disputes.
