LAHORE: Police have arrested a man accused of assaulting his wife in public after a video of the incident went viral on social media, prompting widespread public outrage.
The incident took place in the Kahna area of Lahore, where the suspect allegedly assaulted his wife on a public road.
According to reports, several bystanders witnessed the incident but did not intervene, with some instead recording videos on their mobile phones.
After footage of the alleged assault circulated widely on social media, Kahna Police launched an operation and arrested the suspect, identified as Munir Hussain.
During initial questioning, the suspect reportedly told police that his wife, Kausar Bibi, had left their home following a domestic dispute. He alleged that he assaulted her after she refused to return home.
Police have registered a case against the suspect and launched an investigation. Authorities said further legal action will be taken in accordance with the findings of the investigation.
