Malala’s biopic ‘Gul Makai’ finally has a release date

Gul Makai, a film based on the life of education activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, will finally hit theatres on January 31, 2020.
Television actor Reem Shaikh will be seen as Malala, alongside Divya Dutta, Atul Kulkarni, Mukesh Rishi, and Pankaj Tripathi in pivotal roles. Directed by Amjad Khan, the biopic has been majorly shot in India-administered Kashmir and traces the socio-political atmosphere of Pakistan.
The film recounts the journey of the Yousafzai family when the Swat Valley was seized by Taliban militants in 2009. Malala spoke out against the terror organisation through her blogs under the pseudonym Gul Makai. She fought for the education of girls and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014.

Malala was shot in the head and neck by Talibani militants for going to school. She survived and made a full recovery continuing her fight for girls’s rights and education.
The first motion poster of Gul Makai was unveiled earlier giving a glimpse of the fire that she fought against. As a girl holds a book in her hands which is on fire, Kabir Bedi’s deep voice echoes:
