A positive development has emerged from Pakistan’s oil and gas production sector as a significant quantity of oil and gas has been discovered in the Nashpa Block located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to a report by the private news channel Express News, the discovery has been made by OGDCL.
From the Haragzai X-1 well, an estimated 2,280 barrels of oil per day has been found, along with 5.6 million cubic feet of gas per day.
OGDCL says this is the first hydrocarbon discovery from the Kingriali Formation within the Nashpa Block. The Haragzai X-1 well was drilled to a depth of 5,170 meters.
In the Nashpa Block, OGDCL serves as the operator with a 65% stake, while PPL holds 30% and GHPL holds 5%.
The new discovery is expected to further strengthen OGDCL’s reserves and help meet the country’s growing energy needs.
