Armed dacoits carried out a major robbery at a mobile phone shop near Badar Commercial in Karachi’s Defense area. The suspects escaped with expensive mobile phones at gunpoint.
Taking notice of the incident, the Interior Minister has ordered the SSP South to ensure the immediate arrest of the culprits and the recovery of the looted property.
According to the police, the suspects made off with a carton full of mobile phones, estimated to be worth between Rs. 4 and 5 million.
However, the affected trader claims the total value of the stolen goods exceeds Rs. 9 million, with more than 40 mobile phones snatched. Police reached the scene shortly after the incident and have launched an investigation.
Local traders staged a strong protest against the robbery, blocking the road and causing a suspension of traffic.
Minhaj Gulfam, president of the Karachi Mobile and Electronics Dealers Association (KMEDA), arrived at the scene and successfully reopened the road after holding negotiations with the protesting traders.
Minhaj Gulfam has demanded that the police arrest the suspects immediately and recover the looted phones.
Meanwhile, the Sindh Interior Minister has formally directed the SSP South to track down the criminals and ensure the return of the stolen electronics to the owner.
