In the harsh days of the early 90’s, Darul Ifta Wal Irshad suddenly appeared to be taking the shape of a fort for no reason. The main gate which only had a watchman now had armed guards and a watchtower. We tried to find out the reason for the strict security but the guardians of the institution and followers of Hazrat Wala had no answer. Neither Hazrat Wala had any threat nor was there any robbery or similar incident at this institution. The 240-yards building now had more armed bodyguards than many muftis. If we asked the reason, there was always a mysterious silence. But the cause could not be hidden for long as this small school was now about to enter the field of ‘jihad’.
In the last stage of life, Hazrat Wala perhaps became interested in becoming Mahmud Ghaznavi. And Mufti Abdul Rahim had a desire to become Sebüktegin and began patronizing the strongest militant outfits of his school of thought. It seems that a key official was almost adopted or became their spiritual guardian. After a couple of years, they incited a rebellion against the Emir in the organization and began to merge with another outfit secretly without the slightest knowledge of their leaders.
The plan was that one they will be given an Emirate and the organization will be taken over but the plot failed. The integration was done but their guardians remained in the same position. A new scheme was devised within a few months which resulted in the arrest of the adopted one in Kashmir. At the same time, a new idea was started to sponsor a sectarian outfit. The dream here was also a takeover but it fell into disrepair within a year.
This is when the Taliban emerged in Afghanistan. With the help of huge donations, they gained access to the top leadership for their vested interests. In the aftermath of 9/11 attacks, the Afghan Taliban began to realize their conspiratorial role and issued a stern warning to them.
Afterward, they didn’t even dare venture even in the districts bordering Afghanistan. The Afghan Taliban wanted Mullah Omar to remain their Amir-ul-Momineen but that he should obey Mufti Rashid Ahmed. There were regular instructions being sent from Karachi to Kandahar in this regard.
Shortly before 9/11, the guardian had been released after the Indian plane hijacking. As soon as he arrived, he had taken refuge in Darul Ifta Wal Irshad. Now a new militant outfit was formed and Hazrat Wala’s six-year-old dream had finally been realized. They soon were claiming an attack on India through 600,000 Mujahideen but the total manpower of all Kashmiri militant groups was less than 10,000. But even this outfit fell into disarray and the guardian also slipped away.
Darul Ifta Wal Irshad once again became only a seminary. Mufti Abdul Rahim came with a new scheme to serve militancy through ‘welfare’. A well-known trust was formed and activities started. Even this also did not succeed and the trust collapsed. An attempt was made to start the same work under a new name but the new trust was banned. Meanwhile, militant activities began in Waziristan, which reached as far as the Red Mosque in Islamabad, where “sacred briefcases” began to arrive during the crisis. Mufti Abdul Rahim seemed to have decided that the state of Madinah should be established by becoming a conqueror but his prayers were not being accepted. The list of their failures is so long that non-jihadi projects are also included in this list. For example, his blood bank was formed and dissolved, and a think tank headed by Adnan Kakakhel eventually closed down.
During this period, a large madrassa Jamiat-ur-Rasheed came into existence in 1996. Its introductory pamphlet, published the same year, proves that it is the only madrassa was founded as a “jihadi centre”. Today we stand in 2021 and are witnessing the 25-year history of Mufti Abdul Rahim and his so-called “centre of jihad”. The question is what did he say in front of his disciples of receiving “good news from Allah”? What has been the progress and significant achievements during the last 25 years? Does he expect General Zia to come again tomorrow and declare him the Caliph?
An important question arises where the money for these 25 years of militancy came from. Meanwhile, billions of rupees have been spent by Mufti Rashid Ahmed and his disciplines. What are the sources of these funds? The answer will blow your mind. It is in the ten conditions laid down by Mufti Abdul Rahim himself in the same magazine which Hazrat Wala had laid down.
The fourth of the ten conditions say “Accept financial support only from sincere people who do not want a receipt.” People who have three terms: Not familiar with money trail, black money, and money laundering. They deserve to go behind bars for these horrible conditions. This first introductory booklet of Jamiat-ur-Rasheed is an interesting document. Ten of its 21 pages have been written by Mufti Abdul Rahim while eleven pages have been penned by Hazrat Wala himself. Mufti Abdul Rahim seems to spend half of his writing on the merits of Hazrat Wala.
In the vastly exaggerated document, Hazrat Wala also narrates the long story of Mufti Abdul Rahim’s struggle in a rather painful way. In the start of the introductory booklet are the conditions or acquiring land for the establishment of Jamiat-ur-Rasheed. Both are deluded in believing that “Allah was on their side.” Now I am going to present such a phrase of Hazrat Wala that will see for what happened to them.
