In Lyari, another building is at risk of collapsing; cracks have appeared in a seven-story residential building in Agra Taj, as reported by national media.
According to a report, the said dilapidated building has not yet been evacuated, and residents are still living there. In this regard, local residents say that the seven-story dilapidated building has 12 units, with approximately 10 families residing in it.
This seven-story building was declared dilapidated and unfit for residence in April; the builder had recently tried to make the building look new by painting it.
It should be remembered that earlier in Karachi’s Lyari Baghdadi area, a five-story residential building collapsed, as a result of which 19 people were crushed to death and eight people, including women, were injured.
A three-month-old baby was rescued alive from the rubble; however, relief operations are ongoing to recover other people trapped under the debris.
Police state that there are reports of more than 30 people trapped under the debris in the Lyari tragedy; however, rescue teams are busy with relief operations along with machinery.
