In the wake of normalized relations between Pakistan and Iran, the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) has witnessed a significant reduction of Rs20 per kilogram, announced Irfan Khokhar, Chairman of the LPG Distributors Association.
The revised per kilogram price of LPG now stands at Rs280, down from the previous rate of Rs300/kg.
This price adjustment extends to domestic cylinders of 11.8kg and commercial cylinders, with reductions of Rs230 and Rs900, respectively, added Khokhar. He further hinted at the likelihood of additional decreases in LPG prices shortly.
Khokhar credited the improvement in Pakistan-Iran relations for thwarting the profit-centric plans of the LPG industry, asserting that the thaw in diplomatic ties had prevented the LPG mafia from exploiting the market for increased profits.
In a significant development, Iranian Foreign Minister Dr Hossein Amir Abdollahian arrived in Pakistan amidst efforts by both countries to de-escalate tensions following recent military strikes. The visit comes shortly after nine Pakistanis were tragically killed in Iran’s Sikran by unidentified assailants.
Leading a high-level political, military, and security delegation, Dr Abdollahian landed at Nur Khan Air Force Base in Rawalpindi. During their stay in Islamabad, the Iranian minister and his team are set to engage in discussions with their Pakistani counterparts, including Jalil Abbas Jilani, to address regional security concerns and other pertinent issues. The visit underscores the diplomatic efforts aimed at fostering understanding and collaboration between the two neighboring nations.
