A couple, originally from Pakhtunkhwa, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Karachi’s Lyari area on Friday in what is believed to be an “honor” killing.
The victims were identified as Attaullah and Rahadiya, also known as Samreen. According to the police, the couple had married two years ago by their own choice, defying traditional family expectations. After their love marriage, they initially relocated to Lahore before settling in Karachi.
The couple had stayed at a private hotel in Lyari before renting a house in the Napier area. On the day of the incident, they had been traveling in a rickshaw from a shopping mall near Clifton Seaview when they were attacked. The suspects, riding a motorcycle, opened fire on the couple.
The police have registered a case based on a complaint filed by Asfandyar, Attaullah’s cousin, against the unknown assailants. Investigations are ongoing to identify the perpetrators behind this tragic incident.
