London police have summoned Tasneem Haider Shah, who claimed to be a spokesperson of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), months after he raised serious accusations against the party’s leaders.
According to media reports, the UK’s counter-terrorism police will interrogate Tasneem Shah in mid-July for two continuous days over the allegations levelled against PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif. He will also be provided an interpreter during the investigation.
In November 2022, Tasneem Haider gained media attention after he levelled serious allegations against PML-N leadership for alleging that the conspiracy to assassinate PTI chairman Imran Khan and senior journalist Arshad Sharif were plotted in London.
Tasneem addressed a press conference during which he claimed holding three meetings with PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif at Hussain Nawaz’s office in London.
Tasneem said he was associated with the PML-N for the last 20 years. He claimed that he was summoned for a meeting to prepare a plot to assassinate Imran Khan and Arshad Sharif.
He said the PML-N UK President Nasir Nasir Butt introduced him to Nawaz Sharif as an influential person from Gujrat. He said Nasir Butt told Nawaz Sharif that Tasneem had connections with the shooters who can complete the task.
He claimed that he was ready to record his testimony before the investigation institutions of Pakistan. He further allegedly that Nawaz Sharif asked him to start working on the assassination plots. He revealed that PML-N was also aware of the journalist Arshad Sharif was present in Kenya and will be assassinated there.
The PML-N vehemently rejected the allegations and distanced itself from him. Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb clarified that Tasneem Haider had no link or anything to do with the party
Aurangzeb had categorically said that Tasneem was not the PML-N London branch’s spokesperson and had no relation with the party. She said that if Haider had any evidence regarding Arshad Sharif’s murder then he should present it before the forum of the joint investigation team.
After making the allegations, Tasneem Haider was forced to go into hiding and resurfaced a few months later.
