LHC extends plea hearing against Shehbaz’s immunity till Mar 24

LAHORE: Lahore High Court has extended the hearing of the petition filed against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif’s immunity suspension till 24th March.
LHC Justice Ali Baqir Najfi heard the case in which the petitioner National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed the petition that sought an immediate suspension of the decision of an accountability court that granted immunity to Shehbaz Sharif from appearing in the hearings.
During the hearing, the NAB prosecutor told that the court that the immunity granted to Shehbaz Sharif in January in Ashiana Iqbal and Ramzan Sugar Mills references should be canceled as it was accepted without following legal requirements.
In this regard, the court had issued a notice to Shehbaz Sharif and sought a reply.
Shehbaz Sharif is currently staying in London since November last year. He along with his elder brother Nawaz Sharif flew to the UK as his elder brother was granted bail by the LHC on medical grounds. Since then both brothers have not returned back to the country.
Earlier last month, Shehbaz Sharif had announced that he would return back to Pakistan this month but no validated date has yet been confirmed.
