ISLAMABAD: The Petroleum Division has officially notified that the petroleum development levy (PDL) on petrol, diesel, and kerosene will remain unchanged, providing a baseline of tax stability following the government’s recent transition to a daily fuel pricing mechanism.
According to the official notification, the government has decided to maintain the levy on petrol at Rs 80 per liter and on high-speed diesel (HSD) at Rs 70.82 per liter. Additionally, the existing levy on kerosene oil has been sustained at Rs 20.36 per liter.
This administrative decision follows the recently implemented three-day price adjustment window, which pushed **today petrol prices** up to Rs 316.15 per liter after a Rs 5.44 increase.
During the same pricing cycle, diesel prices were bumped up by Rs 31.5 per liter to reach Rs 354.35, while kerosene oil saw a sharp Rs 34.33 increase, bringing its current rate to Rs 276.66 per liter (up from Rs 242.33).
Official sources are of the opinion that by keeping the levy flat, the Petroleum Division aims to stabilize state revenue collection as the market adapts to the government’s new policy of determining domestic oil prices on a daily basis.
