E-commerce platforms in India have been criticized for selling T-shirts featuring notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s image.
An e-commerce platform based in Bangalore has been selling T-shirts with Bishnoi’s picture, portraying him as a hero.
Film producer Alankar Jha brought attention to the issue by sharing screenshots of the T-shirts on Twitter. Jha pointed out that multiple digital platforms are selling branded T-shirts with Bishnoi’s image, some even labeling him as a “gangster.” These T-shirts are available for both children and adults, priced between ₹166-₹177.
Jha expressed concern that promoting gang culture through merchandise undermines efforts to prevent youth involvement in gang crimes. The tweet went viral, sparking widespread criticism.
One user commented, “This gang culture will destroy India.” Following severe backlash, the website reportedly stopped selling T-shirts featuring Bishnoi’s image.
The incident highlights concerns about the glorification of crime and the potential impact on young minds.
