RAWALPINDI: Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Commander Sri Lankan Army General Shavendra Silva has acknowledged Pakistan’s continuous efforts for peace and stability in the region, especially in the Afghan peace process and pledged to further enhance bilateral relation.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Sri Lankan Army General Shavendra Silva called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Friday.
On this occasion, the visiting dignitary underlined that Pakistan-Sri Lanka relations marked by trust, understanding and mutual support.
General Shavendra also laid emphasis on deeper collaboration in diverse fields particularly agriculture, tourism, science & technology, sports, education and culture.
The military’s media wing said that matters of mutual interest, regional security issues with particular reference to enhanced military cooperation were discussed during the meeting.
Earlier on arrival at GHQ, visiting dignitary laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada. A smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army presented the Guard of Honour to the visiting dignitary.
