After the privatization of the Lahore Zoo for a record-breaking Rs 500 million, the ticket price has been raised from Rs 100 to Rs 300 per person, Daily Pakistan reported on Wednesday.
This increase has taken many visitors by surprise, with a significant number choosing to leave without visiting the zoo due to the higher costs. Many have called on the government to reconsider its decision to privatize the zoo.
The price hike follows the recent privatization of the zoo, where a private company secured a contract valued at Rs 500 million through a competitive bidding process.
The reserve price for the contract was set at Rs 320 million, with the second-highest bid reaching Rs 480 million.
The deal includes the management of services such as parking for Mall Road and Lawrence Road, entry tickets, and attractions like the aquarium, aviary, virtual reality experiences, walk-through aviary, and snake house.
