In a bid to enhance public access to traffic-related services, Lahore Traffic Police has introduced modernized service kiosks at major intersections across the city.
These kiosks will allow citizens to conveniently apply for and collect driving licenses on-site, reducing the need to visit central offices.
The initiative aims not only to streamline citizen services but also to improve working conditions for traffic personnel by providing protection from extreme weather.
According to Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Dr. Athar Waheed, the first kiosk has been installed at Afshan Chowk on Mall Road. It currently offers services such as issuance of motorcycle licenses and collection of driving licenses. Plans are in place to expand the network to other high-traffic areas including Mall Road, Gulberg, and Iqbal Town.
Each kiosk is equipped with air conditioning, clean drinking water, and designated rest areas to ensure traffic wardens can operate comfortably. A loudspeaker system has also been integrated into the kiosks for public announcements and traffic control.
To ensure uninterrupted service, traffic wardens will be deployed at these kiosks around the clock in three shifts. Dr. Waheed emphasized that all traffic-related services will be gradually integrated into the kiosks, making them a one-stop solution for the public.
