LAHORE: Lahore experienced the coldest day of this winter season on Tuesday as the mercury dropped to 07°C.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted the prevailing cold wave to persist across Punjab this week with 04-06°C below normal temperatures.
As per the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave will likely affect upper parts from tomorrow.
Under these conditions, cold wave is expected in Lahore and most districts of the province on Tuesday night, Wednesday and Thursday.
Partly cloudy weather with light rain/snowfall may occur at isolated places in Murree, Galiyat and surroundings. Frost is likely to occur at isolated places in Potohar region during morning hours. Shallow fog (in patches) is likely to persist in Multan, Khanewal, Khanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur and surroundings.
Lahore’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 07-09°C on Wednesday and Thursday.
Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed in Lahore and most districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Extremely cold weather prevailed in Murree, Galliyat and upper districts.
Murree remained the coldest place in Punjab where the temperature dropped 01°C below the freezing point. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 34 per cent.
