KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Market (PSX) on Wednesday ended a topsy-turvy day after it failed to regain the 48,000 points level.
The KSE 100 index surged in early trading and reached its highest level of 47,980.77 points in intra-day trading. The bourse suddenly plunged and reached its lowest level of 47,709.38 points before it regained control and ended with minuscule gains before trading was suspended.
The index ended with a decline of 31.56 (0.07%) and closed at 47,980.12 points. The total volume of shares was 165.225 million valued at Rs6.655bn.
The lower-bench KSE 30 index also decreased by 14.18 (-0.07%) points and closed at 19,095.89 points. The total volume of shares was 38.488 million.
The KMI 30 index declined by 24.78 points (-0.03%) and closed at 77,435.58 points, while the All-Share Index declined by 58.27 points (-0.18%) and closed at 32,664.17 points.
The most active stock was by Telecard Ltd (TELE 7.75%) which traded 58.179 million shares on the bourse. This was followed by Hascol Petroleum (Hascol 3.73%), World Call Ltd (WTL 0.27%), and TPL Corp Ltd (7.47%). The total volume of scripts was 49.791 million, 45.696 million, and 43.143 million respectively.
