PESHAWAR: The members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly have asked the federal government to issue them blue passports like members of the National Assembly and federal secretaries.
In this regard, The KP Assembly adopted a resolution seeking the issuance of official blue passports to all the members of the provincial legislature.
By unanimously passing a resolution, which carried signatures of ministers, treasury and opposition MPAs called upon the federal government to entitle them to get blue passports.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MPA Nighat Orakzai moved the resolution for blue passports for lawmakers’ traveling abroad.
Nighat Orakzai read out the joint resolution, which said like members of the National Assembly and federal secretaries, members of the provincial assembly and BPS-20 and BPS-21 officers should also be entitled to get blue passports.
It is worth mentioning here three types of passports are issued in Pakistan, including ordinary, diplomatic and official.
An ordinary passport is issued to all citizens of Pakistan while diplomatic is issued to diplomats, president, prime minister, Senate chairman, National Assembly speaker, Chief Justice of Pakistan, governors and chief ministers of provinces and others following approval of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
While, official passports are issued to Pakistani nationals who are senators, MNAs, provincial ministers, judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan/High Courts, Officers serving with the government and proceeding abroad on official assignments.
