Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that while Pakistan has made many mistakes over its 78-year history, extending hospitality to Afghans was among the most significant.
In a post on X, he rejected allegations that Pakistan had attacked a hospital in Afghanistan, claiming such accusations come from those responsible for attacks on mosques, worshippers, civilians, markets and schools.
He further alleged that those involved in narcotics smuggling as a source of income are now turning against the state that has provided them refuge for decades.
He said they fail to honour commitments and demand large sums to fulfil agreements.
Khawaja Asif added that Pakistan not only provided shelter but also confronted a superpower on their behalf and extended hospitality across three generations.
He said that, despite many past mistakes, offering such prolonged hospitality was the most serious one, concluding with a call for forgiveness.
